The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, expresses his condemnation for the conversion of the Chora Church into a mosque.
In a post on his official twitter account, N. Anastasiades states:
“We strongly condemn the decision of the Turkish government to convert the Chora Monastery into a mosque. This is another act of disrespect on the part of Turkey in the world cultural heritage.”
Καταδικάζουμε έντονα την απόφαση της Τουρκικής Κυβέρνησης για μετατροπή της Μονής της Χώρας σε τζαμί. Πρόκειται για μία ακόμη πράξη ασέβειας εκ μέρους της Τουρκίας, στην παγκόσμια πολιτιστική κληρονομιά.
