On the afternoon of Sunday, January 17, the annual ceremony of cutting and blessing of vasilopita by Bishop Siluan of Sinope took place in the courtyard of the headquarter of the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide as reported by vema.com.au.
The clergy of the city, the executives of the charitable organizations of the Holy Archdiocese and the Consul General of Greece in South Australia, Georgios Psiachas, attended the ceremony.
Bishop Siluan urged the faithful to never abandon the Church to remain safe and reach their salvation while encouraging them to lead their life by “hat[ing] what is evil; cling[ing] to what is good” (Romans 12:9).
The children of the Holy Archdiocese, under the guidance of Protopresbyter Fr. Konstantinos Skoumbourdis, priest in charge of St. George Church in Thebarton, sang the carols.
