Archbishop Anastasios of Albania is in critical condition, as his health deteriorated on Friday morning, according to a report from Ethnos.gr.
The Archbishop has developed multiple organ failure and is intubated in the Intensive Care Unit of Evangelismos Hospital in Athens. He underwent emergency surgery on Friday, January 10, to address a hemorrhage in his lower digestive system. Despite the procedure, his condition remains extremely serious.
Doctors are making continuous efforts to stabilize and awaken him, while he is being closely monitored by a specialized medical team led by Professor of Pulmonology and Intensive Care, Anastasia Kotanidou.
Archbishop Anastasios was initially admitted to a hospital in Tirana on December 30 due to a seasonal flu. However, as his condition worsened, an airlift transfer to Athens was deemed necessary on January 3. Since then, he has been receiving intensive medical care at Evangelismos Hospital, where the medical team is battling to stabilize his health.
