Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East received former Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the Patriarchal Residence in Balamand.
During the meeting, Mikati expressed his deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the Patriarch for the martyrs of Saint Elias Church in Douweila – Damascus. He affirmed his support for the Patriarch and conveyed his fraternal solidarity with the Church of Antioch.
The former Prime Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening Christian-Muslim cohesion and the need to foster a spirit of peaceful coexistence, especially in these difficult times marked by rising sectarian tensions.
For his part, the Patriarch warmly thanked Mikati for his stance, highlighting the vital importance of cultivating a spirit of openness and dialogue.
