Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East received today at the Patriarchal See in Balamand His Beatitude Mar Bechara Pierre Raï, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East of the Maronites.
During the meeting, the Patriarch conveyed to Patriarch John X the condolences of the Maronite Church for the martyrs of the Church of Saint Elijah in Douma, as well as the strong condemnation of this heinous massacre.
Also present at the meeting were Metropolitan Elias Nassar, Patriarchal Vicar for pastoral and administrative matters, and Archimandrite George Jacob, Abbot of the Patriarchal Holy Monastery of the Virgin Mary of Balamand.
The two Primates discussed the current situation in the region, focusing on developments affecting the presence and martyrdom of the Christian population, as well as the broader social reality in the East.
