Colombia withdraws aid trucks from Venezuela

by Romfea.news

Colombian Government ordered the trucks carrying aid for Venezuela to return, arguing that 258 people were injured by suppression forces of Nicolas Maduro’s government while preventing the aid from entering the country.

“This peaceful and humanitarian action was prevented by Venezuela, under the government of predator Maduro, with brutal and disproportionate suppression”, declared Colombia’s minister of External Affairs Carlos Holmes Trujillo during a press conference in the border town Cucuta.

According to ANA-MPA, the minister spoke of “285 injured”, from which 255 are citizens of Venezuela and 30 of Colombia. The injuries were the result of teargas and non-conventional weapons use”.  Speaking out against “the violations of human rights” in “Venezuela district”, Holmes Trujillo clarified that the 37 injured were hospitalized.

After these developments, “it was decided that the trucks would return so as to protect the aid, except the trucks carrying medical aid that were burnt in Venezuela”.

According to Colombia’s Ministry of External Affairs, “over 60 unarmed military staff, among them many army officers, went through Venezuela to Colombia and asked for asylum, an action that proves the loss of  any kind of trust to the seizure (of power) in Venezuela”. Holmes Trujillo uses the words of the political opposition in Venezuela under the Juan Guaido when referring to president Maduro.

Colombia’s government, which calls the leader of Chavistas a “dictator”, is among the approximately 50 governments worldwide that have recognized Guaido, the president of the national assembly, as the transitioning president of the neighbouring country in crisis.
