The World Meteorological Organisation has chose the climate and water as the central theme of this year’s combined celebration of World Meteorological Day (March 23) and World Water Day (March 22).
The Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organisation Professor Petteri Taalas, in his message, pointed out that climate and water are inextricably linked and therefore their co-ordinated and sustainable management is necessary, since they are at the heart of sustainable growth, climate change and reducing the risk of natural disasters.
The National Meteorological Service is participating in the celebration of World Meteorological Day 2020, as Greece’s representative to the World Meteorological Organisation. However, all the festivities scheduled for March 23, 2020 at the premises of the National Meteorological Service have been cancelled in line with the general measures for preventing the spread of coronavirus.
