The churches in Cyprus will be closed from today, as President Nicos Anastasiadis announced on Monday night strict measures to restrict traffic due to the coronavirus, following the model of the measures applied in many European countries.
Among these, it is explicitly stated that “it is forbidden for citizens to attend places of religious worship, such as churches, mosques and other places of prayer.”
The measures, which will be implemented from 6am this morning, will be valid until 13 April, and there is still no reaction from the Church of Cyprus.
