The Orthodox Church of Ukraine has no objection to vaccination. On the contrary, priests of the Church of Ukraine call on the faithful to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and to observe the imposed measures, as it is an effective method of protection against the pandemic. The Archbishop of Chernihiv and Nizhny Yevstratiy (Zoria) made the relevant statements in an informative video released by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
As reported by df.news, Archbishop Yevstratiy (Zoria) commenting on the issue pointed out that the spread of the disease can be limited through preventive health measures and through the realization of the individual responsibility of everyone. Vaccination, he said, is not against the Scriptures or the principles of the Christian faith. He added that everyone should be careful and appreciate the gift of God which is health. Protection against COVID-19 can be achieved by applying simple measures, such as the use of a mask, disinfection, social distance. These measures also apply to priests and believers who come to the temples.
In early December, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Smigal expressed gratitude to representatives of religious organizations for their constructive stance in promoting the coronavirus vaccination process. It is worth noting that in recent weeks vaccination centers are opening in Holy Temples.
