Traditional Christmas carols on the Pontic Lyra (or kemenche) were played by young people at the Greek Archdiocese of Australia in the District of Northcote in Victoria.
Much to the surprise of Archimandrite Evmenios Vassilopoulos and his entourage, young men and women from the Central Pontian Association “Pontiaki Estia” of Melbourne and Victoria visited today the premises of the Greek Archdiocese of Australia, that is the Holy Monastery of “Axion Esti”.
The Archiepiscopal Vicar of Northcote welcomed them with great joy and pride and thanked them for the visit. He also wished them all the best on behalf of Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
In addition, Father Evmenios congratulated the members of the “Pontiaki Estia” Association on their work and activities. He also expressed his gratitude for the valuable contribution of the Association to the social relief programme which has been launched by the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
