Memories from the unforgotten homelands, and especially from Kioste (Dalyan) in Asia Minor where most of the inhabitants of Agia Paraskevi of Chios come from, were brought up this year too during the Great Archieratic Vespers and the procession of the miraculous icon of Saint Paraskevi of Kastello in Chios.
The litany of the icon, that was rescued from the Asia Minor catastrophe in 1922, took place in a thrilling atmosphere under the sounds of the Philharmonic orchestra of the Municipality of Chios.
Metropolitan Markos of Chios presided over the Archieratic Vespers in the presence of a number of priests and hundreds of faithful. This year the HSW Ship “Nissos Samos” gave a bell-ringing salute.
