The Archdiocese of Cyprus announced that the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus, Archimandrite Grigorios Mousouroulis, reposed in the Lord on Monday, January 11, 2021.

The funeral service for the late Archimandrite Gregory will take place on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at the Church of Panagia Evangelistria Pallouriotissa at 10.00.

Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus will preside over the funeral service, accompanied by members of the Holy Synod. It is noted that all the measures provided by the relevant protocols for protection against coronavirus will be observed.

Archimandrite Grigorios Mousouroulis was born in 1950 in Chios. He studied Philology and Theology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 1976 he became a member of the Brotherhood of Theologians “O SOTIR,” serving as a lay preacher and catechist in various cities in Greece.

In 2000 he was appointed as a representative of the “O SOTIR” Brotherhood in Cyprus. In 2014 he was invited by Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus to serve as a clergyman of the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus.

In May 2014 he was ordained by Archbishop Chrysostomos a deacon and a presbyter and then ordained an archimandrite. He served as priest of the Cathedral of Saint Ioannis.

In January 2018, he was appointed by the Holy Synod as its Chief Secretary.
