At the Church of St. George in Vienna, on Sunday, October 31, 2021, on the anniversary of the Austrian National Day and the celebration of Oxi Day, the Divine Liturgy and Doxology were celebrated by Archbishop Arsenios, along with the Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Fr. Ioannis Nikolitsis and the Archdeacon Fr. Maximos.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Arsenios performed a Doxology and a memorial service for the fallen in favor of the independence of Austria as well as for the heroically fallen in favor of the freedom of Greece, in the presence of the Ambassadors of Greece, and Cyprus in Austria, Katerina Koika and Elena Rafti.
Led by Metropolitan Arsenios, the clergy and the people together with students of the National School of Vienna headed to the Cemetery of St. Marx, where a Trisagion was held for the repose of the souls of the fallen, and wreaths were laid in their memory. The Metropolitan wished the merciful God to give to the honored ones by falling eternal rest and to bless the peaceful works of the people of today and tomorrow.
