A delegation from the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) met with the president of the Conference of European Churches (CEC), Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain, on 30 January, at his residence in London.
The meeting focused on CEC’s support for Ukraine through its Pathways to Peace initiative. Archbishop Nikitas outlined CEC’s efforts to advocate for justice, peace, and reconciliation in Ukraine. He also shared insights on interfaith dialogue and religious life in the United Kingdom.
The UCCRO delegation thanked CEC for its support and efforts to amplify Ukrainian voices in ecumenical and political discussions. Both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in 2025 to promote peacebuilding efforts.
In December last year, CEC hosted the Just Peace Consultation in Warsaw, bringing together 80 participants, including representatives from the UCCRO, among other Ukrainian and European churches. The event examined theological, ethical, and practical aspects of just peace amid Russia’s war on Ukraine, focusing on truth, justice, and reconciliation.
CEC continues to support Ukraine, working with churches and communities to promote justice and reconciliation through dialogue and cooperation.
