Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and his Swedish counterpart Ann Linde had a verbal conflict on Tuesday during their meeting in Ankara.
As reported by kathimerini.gr, during the joint press conference, the latter asked Turkey to withdraw its troops from Syria and stressed that it should not violate the sovereign rights of the Republic of Cyprus in the EEZ, which provoked Çavuşoğlu’s anger.
As a result the Turkish Foreign Minister asked her “why does she say this and who ordered her to do it” and why she does not talk about the Turkish Cypriots in Cyprus and the hydrocarbons, adding that she supports the PKK with her attitude.
Çavuşoğlu also effectively blamed the EU for its discriminatory attitude on a number of issues, including the issues of the Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus.
“Why don’t you talk about the rights of the Turkish Cypriots? Why not emphasize the fair distribution of hydrocarbon resources? Due to the unjust solidarity within the EU, which blinds both the Union and the people,” said the Turkish Foreign Minister, while he also put Greece in the frame of the attack, regarding the refugee issue, saying:
“If you are sensitive to human rights, you do not see Greece in terms of the refugees?”
