The decision of Metropolitan Seraphim of Kythira to defy the government’s decision regarding the suspension of all daily services due to the coronavirus outbreak provoked the reaction of the Mayor of Kythira.

Moreover, Metropolitan of Kythira decided to open the doors of the Church of Estavromenos and to ring the bells in order to call the faithful to the church. Mayor Stratos Charchalakis said to Lifo.gr that no one was above the law, and, therefore, a case-file had been opened. He added that a public prosecutor would intervene as well. Finally, he said that the police found the Metropolitan of Kythira performing a service at another church in the morning, the doors of which were wide open.

The Metropolitan will be called on today to confess his wrongdoing.
