Joining other Romanian hierarchs in their pleas for peace, Bishop Ioan Casian of Canada has called on political leaders to end the hostilities with Ukraine, asking God to grant them “wisdom, a spirit of responsibility, peaceful understanding, and openness.”
Expressing his deep sorrow over the armed conflict in Ukraine, Bishop Ioan Casian said that “conflicts cause suffering, loss of life, much insecurity and incalculable material damage.”
The Romanian Bishop of Canada recalled Christ’s words to His disciples after the resurrection – “Peace be with you” – and noted that “peace is essential for good coexistence between us humans.”
The bishop urged the Romanian clergy and faithful in Canada to join in prayer for those who are currently suffering in Ukraine.
“I urge the clergy and faithful of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada to offer petitions and prayers at the Divine Liturgy and their personal prayer for the cessation of hostilities, for the protection of the Ukrainian people and a spirit of good understanding and prudence for the political leaders.”
