British Ambassador to Greece Kate Smith received a report on Brexit priorities drawn up by 15 students at the University of Macedonia as part of the educational programme “Young Diplomats @ the British Embassy”, developed by the university’s Department of International and European Studies in collaboration with the British Embassy in Greece, in the framework of the course Modern Diplomacy, Economy and Business, according to a university press release on Tuesday.
Receiving the report on January 19, Ambassador Smith pointed out the important role that cooperation between the academic institutions of Greece and the United Kingdom is expected to play in the new post-Brexit era.
The 39-page report contains proposals on the UK’s Brexit priorities in its foreign policy for Greece, Europe and the Western Balkans.
“It was a great pleasure for me to see for myself the dynamism hidden by the new generation of people who will contribute to Greek-British relations. Their proposals for making the most of the opportunities presented by the friendship between the two peoples – and for addressing the common challenges that are emerging – are really timely,” Smith said.
