The Ambassador of Greece to Australia, Stavros Venizelos, accompanied by his wife, Larissa Tikaidi, was officially welcomed to Queensland during his first official institutional visit to the state. The reception in his honor took place at the State Library of Queensland and was organized by the Greek Honorary Consulate in Brisbane.
On the same evening, the official opening of the art exhibition by visual and conceptual artist Karolina Rovithi also took place.
The Holy Diocese of Brisbane participated in the exhibition by presenting ecclesiastical vestments and sacred vessels. The Diocese was responsible for the curation and organization of all exhibits, including icons and photographs.
Among those in attendance were numerous Consuls General in Queensland, presidents of parishes and communities, as well as representatives of Greek associations and organizations.
Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane conveyed to all those present the love and blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, announcing that His Eminence will soon visit Brisbane.
Bishop Bartholomew praised both Ambassador Venizelos and Honorary Consul George Mastrokostas not only for their important work, but above all for their integrity and service to the community.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Honorary Consul for organizing the exhibition, as well as to Ioannis Kotzas for his assistance and continued support in its successful presentation.
