Bright Friday is dedicated to the Feast of Zoodochos Pigi, that is, the Mother of God of the Life-giving Spring.
The feast is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, who, while being God’s creation, like all human beings, conceived supernaturally and contributed, by obeying His will, to the incarnation of the Son of God. She gave birth to the God-man Jesus Christ, the life and resurrection of humankind, the one who liberated us from human passions.
One of the most prominent churches dedicated to Zoodochos Pigi in Balikli is a 5th-century Christian pilgrimage with holy water, located in the region of Eptapyrgion in Constantinople, about five hundred meters from the Gate of Silivri.
In the monastery, there is a monastic community of nuns. The pilgrims reverently embrace the icon of the Virgin Mary and receive a blessing from the hagiasma of the Monastery.
