On September 24, the Church commemorated Saint Silouan the Athonite, who passed away in 1938 and was canonized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 1987. This year, Bishop Silouan of Adelaide joyously celebrated his name day for the first time at the Archdiocesan Church of the Wisdom of God. Last year, due to fulfilling his duties in another state, he was unable to attend this significant occasion while the offices of the Holy Archdiocese were temporarily housed at the Church.
Bishop Silouan presided over the Orthros and the Divine Liturgy, joined by numerous priests from the Holy Diocese of Adelaide. In his homily, he urged the faithful to embrace the path of the Cross, emphasizing that surrendering to death in this life leads to the promise of eternal life. He expressed profound gratitude to the clergy of the Diocese, describing it as a “gem” of the Church, and praised the faithful as both a source of inspiration and joy in his ministry.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the dedicated and tireless members of the Central Philoptochos Fraternity hosted a festive luncheon, fostering a spirit of fellowship among the congregation.
