With all due reverence, Bishop Maximos of Melitene presided on Sunday, December 8, at the Greek Orthodox English-speaking Community of Chester, dedicated to Saint Barbara, the Great Martyr.
The faithful members of the local Church warmly and devoutly welcomed the Bishop, who presided at Matins and led the Divine Liturgy. Father Ioan Petkov, the Parish Priest of the Church, and Protopresbyter Pancratios Sanders co-celebrated the service. During the service, the Bishop delivered a sermon to edify the congregation and conveyed the blessings and fatherly love of Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, a festive meal was served in celebration of the feast of St. Barbara, which was recently commemorated by the local community. All the pilgrims and faithful took part in the event, which took place in an atmosphere of spiritual joy and fraternal love.
