On Sunday, August 11, Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne presided over the Orthros (Matins) and the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Bell Park, Geelong, Victoria.
The Bishop presided over the Divine Liturgy, assisted by Fr. George Vrionis, who, with the blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, assumed the duties of Hierarchical Head of the Parish.
Fr. Georgios expressed his gratitude to the Archbishop for his appointment and to Bishop Kyriakos for his presence in the Parish during his first Sunday Divine Liturgy. The community and parishioners welcomed him with open arms.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Bishop of Melbourne spoke to the congregation about the Gospel of the day, and conveyed to everyone the blessings and wishes of Archbishop Makarios.
