Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane travelled to Cairns to attend the St John’s Community Care Annual General Meeting.
The annual meeting commenced with prayer and with His Grace reading the official message of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
Following the official message, Chairperson Mr Theo Bacalakis addressed the meeting thanking His Eminence for all his support and assistance. Furthermore, Mr Bacalakis thanked the Board of St John’s Community Care, the staff and volunteers for their endless support.
In addition, the Chief Executive Officer of St John’s Community Care, Mrs Sonya Davis and the Chief Operations Officer Mr Drong Vue outlined the many achievements of St John’s Community Care for the year 2024 and its vision for the future.
At the end of the meeting His Grace Bishop Bartholomew together with the Chief Executive Officer Mrs Davis presented awards to the staff and volunteers for their many years of service.
Among the many award recipients was Mrs Effie Bacalakis who received an award for her 25 years of service to St John’s Community Care. A service of dedication, commitment, all completed with extreme humility. It is also noted that earlier this year, Mrs Bacalakis was recognised in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honour List receiving a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).
