On Thursday, July 11, with the blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Northcote, Victoria, presided over the festive Vespers for the feast of Saint Paisios of Mount Athos. The service took place at the Chapel of the Holy Monastery of St. John in Forrestfield, Perth.
This visit marked Bishop Evmenios’s first trip to Perth, where he will also participate in the centenary celebrations of the local Church, including the 2024 Youth Conference, with Archbishop Makarios as the main speaker.
At the conclusion of the Vespers, Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Perth, warmly welcomed Bishop Evmenios and thanked him for his service. This year’s feast held special significance as it marked the 30th anniversary of Saint Paisios’s passing.
Members of the Christian Association, who traveled from Sydney to Perth, sang the Vespers hymns beautifully, adding to the solemnity of the occasion.
Following the service, the two Bishops departed for the Perth airport to welcome Archbishop Makarios.
