Alexander Goratchek, Assistant Bishop of the Russian Church in Germany, fell asleep in the Lord on 28 May after having a heart attack.
Late Bishop Agapitos was born in Frankfurt in 1955, studied architecture at Darmstadt University, became a monk in 1979 at the Russian Monastery of St. Job in Munich, and was ordained a deacon in 1983, an elder in 1991 and a bishop in 2001.
The body of late Bishop Agapitos will first be transferred to Stuttgart, where it will be laid in repose for the faithful to pay their respects. Then, Bishop Basil of Arista will perform the Hierarchical Trisagion Hymn on behalf of the Metropolis of Germany. He will be buried at the Russian cemetery in Wiesbaden, where the graves of many Russian hierarchs and family members of the beloved Agapitos are buried too.
