Australian Ambassador to Greece Alison Duncan congratulated the Minister of Climate Change and Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilias for responding to the challenges of the fire season during their meeting on Thursday.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the meeting focused on the cooperation of Greek firefighters with their Australian colleagues. In this context, a training visit of Fire Service officers to the state of New South Wales is expected to take place soon.
Particular emphasis was placed on the exchange of expertise between Australia and Greece, which have been constantly tested by the climate crisis in recent years.
Also discussed was the possibility of signing Memoranda of Understanding and the exchange of know-how on forest fire prevention technology.
