Archimandrite Ioane (Vachtang Jishkariani) of the Patriarchate of Georgia has peacefully reposed in the Lord. Born in Sokhumi, he dedicated his life to the Church from 1997 onward.
His path was challenging. He served faithfully in several monasteries, including the Monastery of the Holy Fathers of God, Kvatahevi, Kozifa, Bolnisi, Mkinvartsveri, and Armazi. Throughout this period, he faced many difficulties, yet his tireless dedication to the Monastery of Saint George in Lomisisi stands out, particularly during his early years there starting from 2008.
Living completely alone in the inaccessible snow and severe cold, without electricity or heating, Archimandrite Ioane sustained himself almost solely on bread and water. His endurance and sacrifices ensured that the faithful can now visit the Lomisisi church for worship without hindrance.
Symbolically, it is also fitting that his body is laid to rest today in Lomisisi.
