Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Ambrosios Stampliakas has been elected the new Bishop of Sinope, according to an official announcement issued by the Ecumenical Patriarchate following the decision of the Holy and Sacred Synod, which convened on January 8.
As stated in the announcement, “the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, meeting today, January 8, elected as Bishop of Sinope Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Ambrosios Stampliakas, Protosyncellus of the Holy Metropolis of France.”
The newly elected Bishop will serve as an auxiliary bishop to Metropolitan Dimitrios of France, carrying out his pastoral ministry within the framework of the Holy Metropolis of France.
The decision of the Holy and Sacred Synod marks the elevation of Archimandrite Ambrosios Stampliakas to the episcopacy and reflects the continued pastoral care of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the orderly administration and spiritual support of the local Churches.
Short Biography of the New Bishop
Bishop-elect Ambrosios was born in 1978 in Kozani. He is a graduate of the Higher Ecclesiastical School of Thessaloniki and the Department of Pastoral and Social Theology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He was ordained a deacon in 2002 and a presbyter in 2007, at which time he also received the rank of Archimandrite.
He served in the Holy Metropolis of Servia and Kozani as a parish priest and in key administrative roles, later ministering in the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki from 2015. Since 2021, he has been serving in the Holy Metropolis of France as Protosyncellus.
