With great joy, the Holy Archdiocese of Canada welcomed yet another labourer into the vineyard of the Lord. On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Archbishop Sotirios of Canada celebrated the ordination to the Diaconate of Mr. Joseph Xyradakis at the Holy Church of the Koimisis Tis Theotokos in Montreal, in the presence of clergy, relatives, friends, and a large number of faithful.
Joseph Xyradakis, a spiritual child of Fr. Nicholas Papageorgiou, has been serving for many years at the Koimisis Tis Theotokos Church with zeal, humility, love, and devotion. His long-standing contribution to the parish, his active participation in the liturgical life of the Church, as well as his ecclesiastical ethos, constituted valuable preparation for the new stage of his ministry.
On Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the same Church, Archbishop Sotirios proceeded with the ordination of Deacon Joseph to the Holy Priesthood, thus completing a particularly blessed spiritual journey. The ordination was celebrated in an atmosphere of spiritual joy, with the participation of many priests from Montreal and the surrounding areas. Many faithful attended and watched with emotion these two significant ecclesiastical moments, proclaiming “Axios!”
