The proceedings of the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese of Australia continue today, Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
The Synod is convening in regular session during the Pentecostarion, in accordance with the Holy Canons and the provisions of the Constitution, under the presidency of Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
Following the opening prayer at the first session, the minutes of the previous sessions were ratified. Subsequently, the Holy Synod proceeded to examine the matters included on the agenda and, among other things, reached the following decisions:
- The Internal Regulation concerning Youth, as prepared by the competent Synodal Committee, was approved in principle.
- The order and service for the Sanctification of the Waters, as prepared by the competent Synodal Committee, were approved.
- Pentecost Sunday of each year was designated as a day dedicated to external missionary work, during which charitable events will be held both at the Seat of the Holy Archdiocese and in the local Dioceses, to support brethren in need.
- A Special Committee to address moral deviations was established, under the presidency of His Grace Bishop Christophoros of Kerasounta, Protosyncellus of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
The proceedings of the Holy Synod will continue tomorrow, Thursday, 16 April.
