Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania met with Pope Leo XIV.
This historic meeting took place during a private audience following the International Conference “Osare la pace,” organized by the Community of Sant’Egidio in Rome.
During this fraternal encounter, they discussed issues of common interest and emphasized the crucial importance of restoring peace and ending the wars that afflict the world. Particular attention was given to caring for and supporting young people, who represent the present and future of our societies.
The Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania continues to cultivate relationships of friendship and open dialogue with all, contributing to harmony and well-being. This historic meeting is a testament to the role of Christians in promoting peace, a role in which the Orthodox Church of Albania plays a particularly significant part.
At the conclusion of the meeting, gifts were exchanged.
