The Cyprus community celebrated the Great Feast of August at St Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church in North London.
Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain presided the celebrations and the Archieratic Divine Liturgy, and officiated at the Great Vespers.
Bishop Athanasios of Tropaeou, the priests of the Temple and other priests and deacons of London concelebrated with the Archbishop.
The outgoing High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus, Evripides Evriviades, Lords of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Local Authorities, Presidents of Communities as well as the faithful people who filled the Temple up to the outside, attended the celebrations.
In both the Great Vespers and the Divine Liturgy, the Archbishop preached the divine word.
“The Temple is flooded with the love of the people, for every Christian sees the Mother of the Lord as his own personal mother. The Church invites us to the path of repentance and love. And invites us not only to hear the word of the Lord, but to deliver it too,” he said.
