On the evening of Palm Sunday, 5 April 2026, Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain, accompanied by Archdeacon George Tsourous, visited the Orthodox Parish of the 318 Holy Fathers in Shrewsbury.
Upon arrival, he officiated at the solemn Service of the Bridegroom, marking the beginning of Holy Week. He was warmly received by the Revd Protopresbyter Stephen Maxfield and the Revd Presbyter Panteleimon Maxfield, who has pastoral responsibility for the parish. Fr Panteleimon conveyed the heartfelt gratitude of the faithful for the Archbishop’s presence at this significant moment in the liturgical life of the community.
Following the service, the Parish Council hosted an evening banquet in honour of the Archbishop, offering a warm setting for fellowship and conversation with members of the parish.
