This afternoon, the newly elected Archbishop Symeon of Sinai, Pharan, and Raitho, as well as Abbot of the historic Monastery of Saint Catherine on God-blessed Mount Sinai, visited Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece.
Archbishop Ieronymos welcomed the newly elected Archbishop and wished him success in overcoming any difficulties. In turn, the newly elected archbishop thanked Archbishop Ieronymos and, through him, the entire Church of Greece for their support and assistance.
Following the meeting, Archbishop Ieronymos stated, “I am very happy today to have seen the newly elected shepherd of the historic Monastery of Sinai, a distinguished brother and fellow traveler.” He noted that they had the opportunity to exchange views on history and current affairs and wished the Archbishop strength and patience to cultivate the spiritual atmosphere desired at the monastery and continued strength and success in his missionary work.
For his part, Archbishop Symeon warmly thanked the Archbishop and the Church of Greece for their support of the Sinaitic Brotherhood. He emphasized that “in the person of the Archbishop and the Church of Greece, we always find a strong ally, both spiritually and materially, whenever needed,” and highlighted that “throughout the recent crisis, the Church of Greece has been our most sincere supporter.”
The new Archbishop noted that the blessings and support of the Archbishop, hierarchs, clergy, and faithful of the church “give us hope and assurance that God will not allow the monastery to be compromised nor difficulties to arise for the brotherhood.”
