The festivities at the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai, which is located at an altitude of 1,600 meters above sea level, and is a bastion of Orthodoxy and Hellenism, in the heart of the Egyptian desert, were concluded yesterday afternoon. There, Archbishop Damianos of Sinai, Pharan and Raitho invited all Orthodox in every country to visit the Monastery, but also sent the message “May God enlighten those who curiously cause problems for others,” apparently due to the political developments of the last days in the wider Mediterranean region.
Archbishop Ioakim of Helenopolis of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and Metropolitan Maximos of Ioannina honoured with their presence the events and participated in the Services.
“In these times, may God enlighten those who curiously cause problems for others. Everyone understands what I mean,” Archbishop Damianos said, speaking to ANA-MPA, apparently referring to the latest political developments in the wider Mediterranean region.
“I convey my blessing to the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who is a peak of wisdom, compassion and peace in fact. You see that things are not as they sometimes sound. There is peace and quietude in Egypt because the strong man of this country, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, offers peace all over the region,” Archbishop of Sinai stressed.
