The Holy Synod of the Archdiocese of Ohrid, convening on December 12 at the Archdiocese headquarters, expressed profound concern over the worsening situation in Syria and Lebanon, as well as for the faithful of the Patriarchate of Antioch. The Synod addressed various matters and developments impacting the life of the Church.
In response, the Holy Synod announced the intensification of its prayers to God, fervently pleading for the protection of Christians in Syria and the broader Middle East under the pastoral care of Patriarch John X of Antioch. The Synod also prayed for their steadfast faith, spiritual strength, and the realization of the long-awaited peace in the region.
Archbishop of Ohrid conveyes unwavering solidarity to Patriarch of Antioch
In a statement addressed to Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East, Archbishop Stephan of Ohrid conveyed the unwavering solidarity and prayers of the Ohrid Archdiocese.
“Your Beatitude,” the letter begins, “we assure you of our heartfelt compassion and unceasing prayers for the Syrian people and all Orthodox Christians under your pastoral care throughout the East.”
Archbishop Stephan called upon the All-Merciful God to provide spiritual comfort and strength to the Syrian people, who have historically demonstrated unwavering faith, hope, and Christ-like love, even in the most challenging times. He also prayed for the wisdom of the Gospel to guide Patriarch John X during this uncertain period.
The Archbishop expressed hope that the God of peace would restore tranquility to the suffering land of Syria, becoming a steadfast protector in these trying times.
The letter concluded with a message of brotherly love and assurance of continued prayers and solidarity from the Ohrid Archdiocese.
