In an atmosphere of profound grief and prayerful solemnity, a memorial Trisagion service was held today before the informal shrine set up by supporters of PAOK and fans of other teams, in memory of the seven young men who lost their lives in the tragic road accident in Romania.
Among those present was Archbishop Dimitrios of Lydda, who originates from Thessaloniki and grew up in the Toumba neighborhood. Although he currently serves at the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, his presence in his hometown during these days led him to the site of remembrance in order to honor the young lives lost so suddenly and unjustly.
The service was marked by deep emotion, as prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the victims and for comfort and strength for their families, friends, and the wider community shaken by the tragedy.
