Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus has clarified that he did not receive any letter or notification regarding a Confession of Faith statement from the defrocked Metropolitan of Paphos, Tychikos.
When asked by philenews.com whether he had received the Confession from Mr. Tychikos, Archbishop Georgios stated, “We have not received anything related to this. I do not know if any Confession of Faith has been sent to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.”
Regarding whether the Holy Synod would review the content of Mr. Tychikos’s Confession of Faith, the Archbishop noted that if such a confession was indeed sent, it would be a positive development and would be examined once it is formally presented to the Synod.
However, ecclesiastical sources pointed out that since Mr. Tychikos’s appeal before the Ecumenical Patriarchate is still pending, reviewing his Confession of Faith at this time would be irrelevant. They also noted that the Confession could have been submitted prior to his appeal to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
