Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus called on the priests who belong to the Archdiocese to be vaccinated until January 15, as reported by protothema.gr.
As he stated, those priests of the Archdiocesan District who are not vaccinated for medical reasons will no longer belong to the Archdiocese.
Expressing regret for the fact that there are clergymen who do not respect themselves and those around them, the Archbishop announced that after January 15 he will call them for the last time to present their vaccination certificate.
Those who do not comply with this regulation will be referred to a doctor of the Archdiocese. The Archbishop noted that if some could not be vaccinated for medical reasons, then there would be no further action. Otherwise, they will be called to be vaccinated, and if they do not, he said that they must join another Metropolis next month.
The Archbishop stressed that an unvaccinated person cannot perform services or come in contact with the faithful and transmit the virus to them. “If they do not care about themselves, let them stay in their house. Why should other people get into trouble?”
