Commenting on recent developments surrounding Tychikos, Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus stated that matters of health should not be confused with the decisions of the Holy Synod.
The Holy Synod is currently awaiting the return of the former Metropolitan of Paphos from Athens, where he had been hospitalized and has now been discharged.
“If he does not return within a reasonable period, we will decide what steps to take,”
the Archbishop said.
He further emphasized that the decisions of the Holy Synod, which have also been ratified by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, will be implemented in full. The Archbishop noted that an alternative solution has been offered to Tychikos and that the Church now awaits his recovery and subsequent decision on how to proceed.
