Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus attended the celebration of the translation of the relics of Saint Neophytus the Recluse on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at the Monastery of Saint Neophytos in Paphos.
The Archbishop presided over the Orthos and celebrated the Divine Liturgy. Metropolitans Panteleimonas of Koroneia, Seraphim of Zimbabwe, Georgios of Paphos, the Abbot of the Holy Monastery, Bishop Leontios of Kytros, and Bishop Grigorios of Mesaoria attended the liturgy.
The Divine Word was proclaimed by the Metropolitan of Koroneia, who praised the ascetic way of life of Saint Neophytos and urged the congregation to understand that one needs few in order to live by the will of God.
He highlighted that “The simplicity in the life of Saint Neophytos gives prominence to two important virtues: simplicity and self-sufficiency. These two virtues are not too far away from each other. This is because someone who leads a simple life is self-sufficient. A person who is self-sufficient knows how to set his own limits. Prudent and hard-working human beings make good use of their power and never abuse it. They know what is necessary and what is unnecessary in life.”
