On the second day of the New Year, Archbishop Makarios of Australia warmly welcomed a delegation from Ladies Philoptochos of St Nicholas Parish, Marrickville, at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese in Sydney.
The members of the Philoptochos were accompanied by the Parish Priest of St Nicholas Marrickville, Archimandrite Fr. Irineos Triallonakis. During their visit, they sang the traditional New Year carols and exchanged festive greetings and gifts with their Archbishop, as well as with Bishop Christophoros of Kerasounta, Protosyngellos of the Holy Archdiocese.
The celebratory visit also provided an opportunity for a constructive discussion focused on the social and charitable work of the local Church, particularly the initiatives carried out in the predominantly Greek suburb of Marrickville in Sydney. Archbishop Makarios was informed about the activities implemented over the past year, as well as those planned for 2026.
Expressing his heartfelt appreciation, Archbishop Makarios congratulated the leadership and members of the Philoptochos for their dedication and valuable contribution to the Parish of St Nicholas and to the wider community. He wished them health, strength, and abundant blessings, encouraging them to continue manifesting their love for their neighbour through tangible acts of charity, offering a living witness of the Orthodox faith, and contributing decisively to the spiritual growth and progress of their parish.
