“We are in a difficult situation as there is an outbreak of the coronavirus in the metropolitan area of Melbourne and throughout Victoria,” Archbishop Makarios of Australia said on the nightly news on Greek public television.
He added that apart from the Greek St. Basil’s nursing home, in which there were 86 cases and 11 deaths of people of the Greek diaspora, more than 60 nursing homes in Melbourne face the same problem.
He also commented on the conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque and said that after deep reflection we would realise that it was “a purely political decision,” which aimed to “disorient people and prevent them from seeing the economic and social situation in Turkey.”
“We will see the implications of this decision in 3 months when the excitement will be gone but there will still be misery and poverty,” he stressed.
