Archbishop Makarios of Australia departed from Melbourne to visit the Pantanassa Monastery, which was threatened by the wildfires in the last few days.
The wider area of the monastery was destroyed by fire. However, the monastery miraculously was saved. Although the fires have not been extinguished around the monastery, the monastery has now avoided the danger.
The Archbishop gave courage to the Abbot and the brothers and returned to the Archdiocese’s seat late in the evening. The fathers expressed their gratitude to the Archbishop for all the support over the last few days, as the Archbishop had constant communication with the Abbot.
