With the blessing and presence of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the Catechism Schools of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in New South Wales will celebrate 70 years since their establishment with a special Anniversary Concert to be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
The concert will take place at the Sports and Performing Arts Centre of St Spyridon College, located in Maroubra, Sydney.
The event will bring together children, families, clergy, and parish communities to honor seven decades of catechetical ministry dedicated to nurturing the faith of the Church’s young members.
The evening will feature presentations by children from Catechism Schools across New South Wales, under the central theme “With Christ and His Saints.” Everyone is warmly invited to attend this joyful and historic occasion.
In his message, Archbishop Makarios invites all to participate in the December 14 celebration, emphasizing that the Catechism Schools are a vital part of the pastoral mission of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
“The local Church,” he noted, “strives to plant in the hearts of our young people the seed of the Gospel and of Christ, so that this seed may bear fruit—not only for the Church but also for society. Society needs good Christian families; society needs good Christians.”
The Archbishop expressed his gratitude to all who serve in the catechetical ministry of the Archdiocese, congratulated the children for their participation, and thanked the parents for the trust they place in the Catechism Schools.
He also spoke with deep affection and gratitude for Fr. Stephanos Pantanassiotis, acknowledging him as a pioneer in this spiritual work of the local Church.
