The Resurrection of the Lord, the “feast of the feasts” for Christianity, was celebrated in a religious atmosphere in the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
Archbishop Makarios of Australia presided over the Divine Liturgy of the Resurrection behind closed doors at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation in Sydney. Thousands of devout believers have been watching the celebration online, waiting for the joyful message of the Resurrection of our Lord, who defeated death.
The excitement of the faithful mounted when they heard the Troparion of the Resurrection: “Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and on those in the tombs bestowing life!” In the end, the Archbishop said “Christ is Risen” and wished all the best. “I hope that we will be able to celebrate Easter all together in our churches next year,” he added.
