Archbishop Makarios of Australia is conducting a pastoral visit to the Holy Diocese of Chora, Victoria, accompanied by Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymnon and Avlopotamos, who has brought with him the sacred relics of the Holy Four New Martyrs of Rethymno: Manuel, Angelis, George, and Nicholas.
The distinguished delegation, which also includes Archimandrite Vasileios Papadakis, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint Anastasia the Roman in Rethymnon, and Theologos Papalevizakis from the Arkadi Monastery, arrived in Melbourne on Friday evening, December 13.
Their arrival was marked by a warm and emotional welcome at the airport, led by Bishops Kyriakos of Melbourne and Evmenios of Chora, along with clergy and faithful from both Holy Dioceses of Victoria.
The Cretan community demonstrated its strong presence, with two young Cretan girls presenting the Hierarchs with bouquets of flowers as a gesture of traditional hospitality. Students from the Greek Orthodox College of St. John Preston also attended the reception, further enriching the event with their presence.
