Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece offered his heartfelt wishes for “strength and unity” to the Prime Minister and Members of Parliament immediately after the traditional Blessing of the Waters (Agiasmos) service held this morning in the Hellenic Parliament, marking the opening of the third session of the 20th Parliamentary term.
The service was celebrated by the Archbishop together with members of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, in the presence of government officials, MPs, and dignitaries.
In his brief address, Archbishop Ieronymos emphasized the importance of solidarity and cooperation among political leaders, particularly during these challenging times:“We are in great need of the blessings mentioned in today’s prayers. Especially now, under the current conditions, we are called to stand united, overcoming difficulties, differing positions, or beliefs, and above all to honor unity and love among us. Everything else will follow.”
He continued with a pastoral message of encouragement and shared purpose: “We wish you strength, patience, diligence, and spiritual connection with one another. As your brothers and co-workers, in a different way, serving our people and our faithful, we all have the same goal. Differences come and go, care must remain. Let us all strive together for this people who are truly struggling and need attention, effort, and perseverance.”
Concluding his remarks, the Archbishop once again extended his blessing and encouragement: “Strength to all of you, not only for today but for the entire year ahead.”
