The customary Doxology for the National Anniversary of March 25, 1821 was held today at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, and presided over by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece.
Archbishop Ieronymos extended his wishes for “many years and peace to all” immediately after the service.
Among those in attendance were the President of the Hellenic Republic Konstantinos Tasoulas, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Metropolitan Theodoritos of Laodicea, Director of the Representation Office of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Athens, Metropolitan Georgios of Guinea, representative of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Athens, Archimandrite Ieronymos Delioglou, Exarch of the Holy Sepulchre in Athens, representatives of other denominations and Churches, members of parliament, the Regional Governor of Attiki, the Mayor of Athens, as well as representatives of the Security Forces, the Armed Forces, and the Hellenic Red Cross.
The Master of Ceremonies for the Doxology was Bishop Barnabas of Christoupolis, Protosyncellus of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.
Following the Doxology, the Archbishop stated: “Many blessed years to all. We must always pray to God to grant us health, peace, and lives filled with joy and serenity. Especially in these times, however, our prayers must be more frequent and more fervent—for peace and for the love of God—so that a spirit of peace may prevail in every aspect of life, and that individuals may be formed to incline more toward peace, love, and progress, and less toward all that gives rise to fear and violence. Many years.”
